This disc is first recording by Ignasi Terraza, as a result, I think, of obtaining the first prize of 14º International Festival of Guetxo (Vizcaya, Spain) (1991).

Ignasi Terraza, born July 14 1962, Barcelona ,city of Catalonia region, Spain. I. Terrace begins its studies of classic piano shortly after losing the view, to the nine years, and soon he's interested in the jazz listening the music of Tete Montoliu. The 18 years it begins to play, alone or with other musicians, by clubs, and in the following years it tour through Catalonia with formation stable. Year 1986 creates its first trio with Pau Bombardó in drums and Nono Fernandez in the contrabass. In year 1990 the North American guitarist Dave Mitchell adheres to the trio and under the name of Mitchell-Terrace Quartet, the group tour by all the state, gains the first prize of the 14º International Festival of Guetxo (Vizcaya, Spain) (1991) and releases two albums. With this group I.Terraca obtains a great national projection. Another figure with that will have one long relation professional is Oriol Bordas. His first collaboration begins with Hot Swing (1985-88), continues with the Paris - Barcelona Swing Connection (1995), the international quartet Four Kats (prize to the best disc of jazz of 1996 by the Radio4 broadcast) and Barcelona Orquestra Jazz (1997-2000).
At the end of the 1999, Ignasi Terrace presents in the Teatreneu of Barcelona the spectacle “Jazz a les Fosques” (jazz in the dark), a series of concerts where it is invited to us listen to his music in the total dark with the purpose of to undergo new sensations. The proposal as much has very good welcome of public as of critic, and the group stays in the billboard playing during three months on a daily basis.
His predilection by the trio ensemble, does not prevent that we can to also see Ignasi Terrace in his other ensemble, piano only, accompanying other figures or in the base of resurged big band Barcelona Orquestra Jazz. From the 2003 he gives piano classes jazz in the School Superior of Music of Catalonia.
In the last years the trio of Ignasi Terrace habitually includes in its formation the musicians of the Parisian scene Pierre Boussaguet, to the contrabass, and Jean Pierre Derouard, in the drums, and it's having an increasing international projection playing in festivales of France, Portugal, Switzerland and recently in tour by Asia.
In 2003 the Jazzhot magazine emphasized the gig in alone piano of Ignasi Terrace as one of the best moments of the festival of Baiona “Jazz aux rempars 2003.
In 2005 the festival of 'Soto del Real' grants the prize to the best concert of the festival 2004 to the Ignasi Terrace trio.
In 2006 Ignasi Terrace receives the “Altaveu“ prize by the disc “in a sentimental groove” released by his own record company, SWIT RECORDS, which the pianist has achieved to turn pieces of the catalan folk into swing, and at the same time he has granted an identity own, fresh and mediterranean to the universal language of the jazz.”
In 2007 catalonian magazine "jaç" selects “In A Sentimental Groove” as the best jazz disc of 2006.

Ignasi Terraza comienza sus estudios de piano clásico poco después de perder la vista, a los nueve años, y pronto se interesa por el jazz escuchando la música de Tete Montoliu. A los 18 años empieza a tocar, en solitario o junto a otros músicos, por clubes y en los años siguientes recorre los escenarios de Cataluña con diversas formaciones estables. El año 1986 crea su primer trío con Pau Bombardó en la batería y Nono Fernández en el contrabajo. En el año 1990 se adhiere al trío el guitarrista norteamericano Dave Mitchell y bajo el nombre de Mitchell-Terraza Quartet, el grupo actúa por todo el estado, gana el primer premio del 14 Festival Internacional de Guetxo (1991) y publica dos discos. Con este grupo Terraza obtiene una gran proyección nacional. Otra figura con quien mantendrá una larga relación profesional es Oriol Bordas. Su primera colaboración empieza con Hot Swing (1985-88), continúa con la Paris - Barcelona Swing Connection (1995), el cuarteto internacional Four Kats (premio al mejor disco de jazz de 1996 por la emisora Radio4) y la Barcelona Jazz Orquestra (1997-2000).
A finales de 1999, Ignasi Terraza presenta en el Teatreneu de Barcelona el espectáculo “Jazz a les Fosques”, una serie de conciertos donde se nos invita a escuchar su música en una oscuridad total con el fin de experimentar nuevas sensaciones. La propuesta tiene muy buena acogida tanto de público como de crítica y el grupo se mantiene en la cartelera actuando a diario durante tres meses.
